Some of the skin conditions that can be evaluated and managed are:-

• Photo-ageing: The aging and sun-related processes that cause the skin to break down, lose elasticity, become wrinkled, develop dryness, and develop irregular pigmentation and a sallow complexion

•  Acne: Teens as well as adults can experience skin problems that may include comedones and milium (blackheads & whiteheads), papules, pustules & scars

•  Irritated skin: Red and inflamed skin that reacts to chemical ingredients or is irritated by hair (folliculitis)

•  Sensitive skin: Skin that is easily inflamed, itchy and blotchy

•  Hormonal conditions: Skin reactions due to birth control pills, menopause and endocrine disorders

•  Appearance related side effects caused by cancer treatments - chemotherapy & radio therapy

About Oncology Skin Care Therapy

Besides the normal Skin Care Treatments featured on my Treatment Menu, Skin Therapy Studio also provides Skin Care services to cancer patients at a minimal cost, as I know the financial strain that comes with cancer
(Please go to my Oncology Skin Treatment Therapy page for more information on this special service.)

1. Chemotherapy, targeted therapy and radiation therapy can cause a host of skin-related side effects. Patients on treatments may find that their skin will be extremely dry, flaking and sensitive overall, however, certain types of treatments can cause specific irritations or reactions to their skin.

2.  Common skincare is often ineffective and may even cause more irritations.

3.  Understanding how to safely and effectively treat the skin, particularly when its challenged by cancer, is paramount to the psychological and physical care of the client.

4.  After the shock of being diagnosed with cancer, many women are then devastated by the distressing side effects of their treatment which can dramatically change their appearance.

5.  I can assist you through some of the stress by minimising the ravaging side effects that chemo and radiation therapy have on the skin, through expert treatments and advice in a tranquil and soothing environment.

6.  As a volunteer in the LOOK GOOD...FEEL BETTER program (https://www.facebook.com/LookGoodFeelBetterSA), I have been deeply moved observing its uplifting effect on cancer patients.

7.  This and my Sister, Tersia De Villiers's very courageous journey with cancer, inspired me to become more involved in Oncology Aesthetics, enabling me to provide the extra-gentle therapeutic treatments so necessary for health-challenged skin, and so lacking in the ordinary salon/spa setting.

8.  LOOK GOOD...FEEL BETTER is a community based free service that offers female cancer patients beauty tips to look better and feel good about how they look during oncology treatments.

9.  The program offers group workshops on a monthly basis at selected Oncology Centres in South Africa .

Look Good...Feel Better

Why I Love Being a Skin Treatment Therapist.

 • It’s a very emotionally rewarding profession - Making people look good also makes them feel good; which in turn, makes me feel good.

•  I’m never bored. Every client has different concerns with their skin.

•  I love treating all aspects from acne to rosacea, and brown spots to wrinkles.

•  No two skins are alike, and that makes it very exciting. All skins have different needs.

•  With all of the advancements in skin care, there is much to be learned. I have an intense passion for learning.

•  Between industry magazines, books, trade shows, webinars, blogs, classes and websites, the opportunities to learn are endless.

•  I am truly a believer that in all professions, you must stay up to date with what’s going on in the industry to be at the top of your game.

•  The skin care industry is fast moving with advances, so continuing education is a must.

•  I love what I do, and it shows. I am so lucky that I have found a career that I love so much.

•  I really am doing my part to create positive change in the world—one face at a time.

•  From sharing skin care tips and expert advice on my Facebook page, I love to share my knowledge and help others.

•  Being a Therapist isn't only about giving facial treatments and selling skin care products, it’s about helping create change and                                  therefore lives.

LiveBeautifully,
